Trump Tantrums On Truth Social As His Obsession With Liz Cheney Worsens

Until Cassidy Hutchinson testified, the most pressing criminal threat that Trump faced concerned the files in Mar-a-Lago. If one is going to initiate the first prosecution of a president in history, it requires the clearest evidence of a crime and it requires something that pushes public opinion strongly toward the need to file charges. To some degree, those files still perhaps remain the most likely focus in any prosecution due to the clarity of the violation and the belief that Trump must be prosecuted for something. But Cassidy Hutchinson shocked the conscience of the public, her testimony proved each element required to support a sedition charge and convinced much of the “ruling class” of pundits, politicians, and prosecutors that Liz Cheney is right. It is more dangerous to not prosecute Trump than it is to put the nation through what everyone knows to be a dangerous prosecution. Trump senses this threat and his feral survival instinct has him in a rage. He is obsessed with the Committee and he is directing his fury at Cheney. Trump is using the only tool he has, lashing out incomprehensibly.

This morning on Truth Social Trump wrote:

Warmongering and despicable human being Liz Cheney, who is hated by the great people of Wyoming (down 35!), keeps saying, over and over again, that HER Fake Unselect Committee may recommend CRIMINAL CHARGES against a President of the United States who got more votes than any sitting President in history. Even the Dems didn’t know what she was talking about! Why doesn’t she press charges instead against those that cheated on the Election, or those that didn’t properly protect the Capitol?

Trump’s entire world is personal and transactional, there are no higher principles. If any museum is ever built to remember this period will feature this quote, one from a man who believes that obtaining a certain number of votes provides one absolute cover from possible criminal charges. He fundamentally doesn’t understand the principle of “the rule of law.” Richard Nixon won 49 states, losing only Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, and two years later Nixon recognized he needed to resign as one means of avoiding criminal charges.

Trump still doesn’t understand that every sane person knows that he lost the election and then, this is truly the mark of a man who has lost his sanity, suggests that Cheney and DOJ prosecute the people that didn’t sufficiently protect the Capitol from the armed mob that HE sent to battle, that he wanted to lead to battle, that he fought his own agents in an attempt to lead to battle. Prosecute the people who lost the battle? Breathless.

It is a stunning statement that stands as powerful evidence of the danger that Trump represents and actually helps prove why Trump must be prosecuted. He is simply too dangerous.
