My style has changed a good bit over the last decade since I moved from Utah to North Carolina and also as I got a little older. Everyone’s style evolves over time, and in the last few years, I’ve especially started to love Southern styles that are colorful, feminine, and slightly preppy. And since shopping and sourcing items for readers is part of my full-time gig here on the blog and Instagram, I spend lots of time scrolling through websites and scouring new arrivals to find great dresses, jeans, tops, shoes and accessories. (There are links below to some of those round-ups, so you can find my current favorites in each category, plus a couple of other popular fashion posts.)
One of my ALL time favorite fashion retailers is Tuckernuck. I discovered Tuckernuck only a few years ago, but I’ve become rather loyal since finding them. It was started by friends Jocelyn Moore Gailliot, Madeline Moore, and September Rinnier in a Georgetown garage and has been incredibly successful since their 2012 launch. The women started the company while hunting for unique gifts, clothes and accessories for the many weddings, baby showers, and dinner parties they were attending. They wanted a more accessible place to shop (specifically online) since it took them hours to find what they were shopping for.
I’ve found that Tuckernuck is exactly that — an online boutique sourced so well that I want to order nearly every item they carry. They make shopping so easy because they only carry the best items from the best brands. They also have amazing hostess and wedding gifts on their website too. It’s truly a one-stop shop. My favorite items from Tuckernuck are always dresses, though, since they’re an entire outfit all on their own. They have dresses at every price point for every occasion.
Tuckernuck Dresses Sizing
Before we get into the dresses, I wanted to share a note on sizing. Since Tuckernuck is an online boutique, the sizing is a little different for all brands they carry. For that reason, they have a detailed “size and fit” section on every item. This will tell you what size the model is wearing and her measurements. I also find that the reviews on each dress help me make a good guess on sizing.
Tuckernuck also has an in-house brand, and I find that it runs pretty true to size. The only style that I find runs small is their Chloe dress – and that’s because it’s super fitted in the chest. I sized up to a small in that and wear an XS in most everything else.
12 Best Tuckernuck Dresses
Today, I’m sharing a roundup of my favorite dresses from Tuckernuck for the spring, including casual day dresses, dresses for weddings and date nights and more.
1. Callahan Shirt Dress
I love the fit of the Callahan oversized shirt dress. I wear an XS, and it’s relaxed (especially in the back) but still flattering. Many oversized dresses can look like a tent, especially on my petite 5’1″ frame, but this one still looks polished and put together.
This dress comes in a ton of different materials. I own the chambray, which comes in a sheer linen material (I tend to wear tan Amazon biker shorts underneath, which I like to wear when chasing my kids around in a dress). I also own the Winetasting colorway, which comes in a crepe fabric (much better for cooler weather). That color doesn’t need a slip or shorts underneath.
I love this dress because the style can easily be worn in every single season. The sleeves give it that cold weather “feel”, but the shirt dress cut also lends itself to warmer days. It’s also one of my favorite dresses to wear to church. (This post has more ideas about what to wear to church.)
2. Chloe Dress
I got the Chloe Dress in a summer order last year, and WOW I’m in love. I feel like Jackie O whenever I put it on. It’s the perfect blend of sophisticated and polished, but the color and pockets make it fun and easy to wear. It’s the ideal dress for dressy events like baby showers, graduation ceremonies, special church services, work lunches, etc. I love having something like this in my closet for dressier events. While the lilac color is on the warm weather side, the Chloe dress comes in a TON of colors. The shape is functional for all seasons, and so is the fabric. Tuckernuck also made a mini version of this dress, and I LOVE the Cerise Blossom color.
The chest of this dress is snug, so I sized up to a small to account for my bustier chest due to breastfeeding. Keep that in mind when choosing your sizing. This Navy Elle Dress is similar but a cute sleeveless option.
3. Black Floral Front Zip Chrysanthemum Mini Dress
This Black Floral Front Zip Chrysanthemum Mini Dress surprised me when I first tried it on. The material is so much more comfortable and casual than I expected. It can easily be worn with heels for a night out and also styled casually with sneakers for mom life. The front zipper is functional, and it could work well for nursing. The sleeves are very puffy, so I recommend wearing your hair up so that it doesn’t compete with the sleeves. I took an XS in this, and the fit is TTS.
4. Pink Embroidery Eliza Midi Dress
I’m actually eyeing this Pink Embroidery Eliza Midi Dress for an Easter dress option! I love the stand ruffle collar and smocked puff sleeves. The midi length is my favorite for Easter (and church in general) since it’s conservative and easy to wear while wrangling kids. Hyacinth House is one of the brands I’m always drawn to at Tuckernuck because their prices are so good. This also comes in a green!
5. Hot Pink Dupioni Esme Dress
Hello gorgeous! This Hot Pink Dupioni Esme Dress is striking in the very best way. It’d be the perfect dress for an early spring wedding. The material has a dressy sheen to it, but the midi length lends itself to all dress codes. With the right shoes, you could even get away with wearing this for black-tie. It comes in other colors, too, but I’m always going with pink when it’s an option. The best part of this dress is that the back as a smocked panel which instantly makes every dress more comfortable.
6. Chambray Lyles Dress
This Lyles Dress is a perfect “everything” dress. I wore the red colorway for family photos this past fall (see my favorite family photos dress ideas linked in this post), but the chambray would work perfectly for church services, brunch, or a baby shower. The material isn’t super thick, but it’s also not thin – so like I said, it really does work for everything. The fit is shockingly good, even without the belt. Maxi dresses can swallow my petite frame, but this fits perfectly. I went with an XS since I knew the fit was relaxed. I recommend sizing down if you’re on the fence. Since the belt is removable, it works for maternity as well.
7. Tweed Jackie Dress
Like the Chloe dress I mentioned above, this Tweed Jackie Dress is another Tuckernuck staple that comes in a million colors. It’s the perfect polished option for graduation ceremonies, a baptism, Easter, a baby shower, or a formal brunch. I love the laid-back shift style mixed with the braided trim and vintage-inspired buttons. You can style this with kitten heels or ballet flats.
8. Denim Mary Tyler Dress
Denim dresses are a big trend we’ll see into 2025, and I love this Denim Mary Tyler Dress take. The classic shirt dress style is easy to pair with flats, sandals, sneakers, and even casual heels. The self-tie belt is such a nice addition. Going out west this year? Take this with you! Don’t miss this Denim Trapunto Stitch Sofia Shirt Dress either.
9. Savannah Stripe Crawford Dress
I’m so excited that the Savannah Stripe Crawford Dress is returning this year. When I see it, I immediately picture myself wearing it for the 4th of July (my favorite holiday). I love the trim on the cuffs and hem mixed with the light blue stripes. You can style this casually with nude flip-flops or wear it for the evening with a pair of heeled sandals. I love the relaxed fit that leaves lots of room for comfort.
10. Navy and White Trim Knit Marie Dress
As soon as I finish nursing, I’m ordering this Navy and White Trim Knit Marie Dress. I absolutely love the high neckline, contrasting borders, and shift silhouette. It definitely has a vintage-inspired feel, but it can be paired with practically any shoes. I’d wear white sneakers with this most often, but I love that you could dress it up with sandals.
11. Poppy and Hot Pink Sienna Wrap Dress
You can’t beat the punchy, fun feel of this Poppy and Hot Pink Sienna Wrap Dress offers. Did someone say “Valentine’s Day”? It has a self-tie wrap detail that allows you to adjust to fit.
12. Blue Seersucker Smocked Maxine Dress
It’s hard to beat this classic Blue Seersucker Smocked Maxine Dress. The style is simple (and reminds me of Hill House Home dresses), but I’m always drawn to how flattering this smocking is. These kinds of dresses are the easiest for me to wear at home with my kids. They’re not fussy, but I still feel pretty and feminine wearing them all day. You can pair it with sneakers or sandals for a casual look or go with heeled sandals for a dressier look.
