Simply Earth often includes their own expertly crafted essential oil blends, and this month I have the Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend for eco-friendly cleaning. These blends are designed to offer a synergistic effect, combining the benefits and aromas of multiple single oils. While the specific oils in this blend aren’t always disclosed in detail on the packaging, the name itself suggests it’s formulated to create a clean and airy aroma that is also stimulating and perfect for a freshly cleaned space, which was on target once I gave it a sniff.

I was eager to get my hands dirty (literally!) and see how the essential oils and supporting ingredients combined to handle various cleaning tasks around my home. Here’s a look at my experience with the cleaning recipes that I whipped up so far.

Clean & Fresh Multi-Purpose Cleaning Spray

The first recipe I decided to try was the Clean & Fresh Multi-Purpose Cleaning Spray. The instructions were straightforward. All that was necessary was combining 50 drops of the Clean and Fresh essential oil blend and one-fourth cup of isopropyl alcohol to a clean 16-ounce size spray bottle before adding a multi-purpose cleaning tablet. Afterwards, I just filled the rest of the bottle with distilled water, giving it a gentle shake to help the tablet dissolve. You might want to test it on a small section of your surface to see how it would react first.

I used it to clean my kitchen countertop, the stove and sink. What I discovered was how easily it tackled soap scum and grime, leaving an exhilarating fresh scent behind.

Lemon Lift Laundry Sheet

Since I had a load of clothes to wash, I decided next I would test the Lemon Lift Laundry Sheet recipe to provide some extra benefits for infusing an energizing aromatherapy scent from the lemon eucalyptus essential oil and further disinfecting. All I had to do was add 15 drops of this essential oil to one of the laundry detergent sheets before placing it in the washing machine drum along with the items.

The clothes were bright and clean when I took them out of the washing machine. But what I really liked was that amazing lemony and sort of herbal woody scent that accompanied them since it was delightful.

Bye-Bye Stain Remover

I didn’t have a stain that I could really challenge this recipe on yet so I thought I would wait until it happened. I will let you know later how it worked.

Setting the Atmosphere: Spring Clean Diffuser Blend

I didn’t try the recipe for Spring Clean Diffuser Blend yet from this eco-friendly box, but I plan too soon. Imagine inhaling the brisk invigorating aroma of lemon eucalyptus, tangerine and clean & fresh essential oils gently released in your living room or maybe my office while I write. I’ll let you know how it helps for a sharper focus.

A Touch of Self-Care: Mood Refresh Roll-On

While the focus of this box is cleaning, it also included a recipe for a Mood Refresh Roll-On. The recipe involved two drops of clean & fresh and two drop of lemon eucalyptus essential oils along with one drop each of tea tree, tangerine and 10 ml (about two teaspoons) of fractionated coconut oil to load into one of amber glass roll-on bottles from the bonus box. The scent is so reviving and yet a bit earthy due to that herbal effect of the eucalyptus. I will be making another bottle of this to pack in my handbag for leaving at your office.
