Is the Simba Hybrid mattress worth the hype? I slept on it for you to find out – Fatgirlskinny.net | Slimming Recipes, Healthy Eating & Weight Loss

When Simba reached out and offered to send me a mattress to review, I have to admit—I was a little surprised! As you all know, my blog, Fat Girl Skinny, is usually all about food, recipes, and healthy eating, so this isn’t exactly my usual topic. But if there’s one thing I love, it’s trying new things—especially when they can genuinely improve daily life.

Good sleep is such an important part of health and wellbeing, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a comfy bed? So, I thought, why not? I was curious to see if the Simba mattress would live up to the hype, and if it could really make a difference to my sleep quality. So, here I am, stepping a little outside my usual content to give you my honest thoughts on this well-known brand.

    I Know My Mattresses!

Now, I’m not just any random person testing out a mattress—I know a thing or two about them! My dad runs a bed shop, so I am used to quality mattresses and understand what makes a good one. I already had a fantastic mattress that I love, so Simba had some serious competition to impress me.

With that in mind, I was really curious to see how the Simba mattress would compare. Would it live up to the high standards I’m used to? Would it offer the same level of comfort and support? I went into this review with an open mind but also with plenty of experience to draw from!

Before I dive into my thoughts on the Simba mattress, I want to be completely transparent. This mattress was gifted to me by Simba for review purposes and I am not being paid for this post.

As always, my opinions are 100% my own, and I’ll be sharing my honest experience—both the good and the not-so-good. I know how important trust is, especially when it comes to big purchases like a mattress, so you can count on me to give a fair and unbiased review.

The brand prides itself on innovative design, pressure relief, and ensuring a great night’s sleep for all types of sleepers. Plus, with their 100-night trial and hassle-free returns, they make it easy for customers to try their mattresses risk-free.

Key Selling Points of Simba Mattresses

Simba has built a strong reputation for its innovative hybrid mattress technology. Here are some of the standout features that set them apart:

✔️ Hybrid Technology – Simba mattresses combine memory foam, patented Aerocoil® springs, and breathable layers for the perfect balance of comfort and support.

    First Impressions

    Delivery & Packaging

The Simba mattress arrived in a surprisingly compact box, which made delivery and handling much easier than I expected. It was well-packaged, with clear branding and instructions included. Given that mattresses are usually big, bulky, and awkward to move, I was impressed by how neatly it was packed. There are handles on the box, but it was HEAVY!

    Unboxing & Setup

Unboxing the mattress was straightforward—once out of the box, it was vacuum-sealed and tightly rolled up. As soon as I removed the plastic wrapping, it started expanding almost immediately. Within a few hours, it had fully inflated to its proper size. There was a slight “new mattress” smell at first, but it faded quickly. I’d definitely recommend letting it air out in a well-ventilated room for a few hours before using it. Simba recommend leaving the mattress for 48 hours before using… but I know this might be hard for some people.. as who has room for a mattress to be laying around? Luckily we had a spare bed we could lay it on for the 48 recommended hours.

    Look & Feel

At first glance, the Simba mattress has a sleek, modern design with high-quality materials. The top cover feels soft and breathable, and the overall construction looks premium. Pressing down on the surface, it had a good balance between firmness and softness—bouncy enough to feel supportive but with a gentle cushioning effect. It definitely looked and felt promising for a good night’s sleep!

Comfort & Sleep Quality – After One Week

After sleeping on the Simba mattress for a full week, I’ve had plenty of time to get a real feel for it.

    Firmness & Support

Simba describes their mattress as medium-firm, and I’d say that’s spot on. It has a good balance of softness and support—when you first lie down, there’s a gentle cushioning effect from the top layers, but underneath, you can feel the firmer support kicking in. It adapts well to the body without feeling like you’re sinking too much.

    Sleeping Positions

I tend to shift between sleeping on my side and back, and the mattress worked well for both. Side sleeping felt comfortable, with enough pressure relief on my hips and shoulders, while back sleeping provided good lumbar support. I tested it briefly lying on my front, and while I don’t usually sleep that way, it didn’t feel too soft or uncomfortable.

    Notable Benefits

One of the first things I noticed was how well it absorbs movement—if you sleep with a partner, this is a big plus because you’re less likely to be disturbed when they move. I also woke up feeling well-rested and without any stiffness, which was a pleasant surprise. While I didn’t have major sleep issues before, I do think this mattress provides a noticeable improvement in overall comfort and support.

    Heat & Breathability

One of the biggest concerns with memory foam mattresses is overheating, so I was curious to see how the Simba mattress would perform. Thankfully, it’s designed with breathability in mind, and I can definitely say it sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam.

I didn’t wake up feeling overly warm, which is a good sign. The mattress has a breathable top layer and uses open-cell foam, which helps with airflow and prevents heat from getting trapped. While it’s not as cool as a completely sprung mattress, it’s a big improvement compared to standard memory foam beds that tend to retain body heat.

Comparing it to my previous mattress (which was already high-quality), I’d say the Simba holds its own. My old mattress had good temperature regulation, but the Simba seems to manage heat just as well, if not slightly better. If you’re a naturally hot sleeper, this could be a great choice, but pairing it with breathable bedding would make it even better.

Comfort & Sleep Quality – After Three Months

Now that I’ve been sleeping on the Simba mattress for three months, I have a much better sense of how it holds up over time.

    Firmness & Support

The mattress has maintained its medium-firm feel, with no noticeable dips or sagging. It still provides a great balance of comfort and support, moulding to my body without feeling too soft. The hybrid design definitely helps—it cushions pressure points while keeping my spine aligned, which is important for long-term comfort.

    Sleeping Positions

After three months, I can confidently say that this mattress works well for different sleeping positions. As a side sleeper, I still get good pressure relief on my hips and shoulders, and when I sleep on my back, there’s enough support to prevent lower back strain. I don’t sleep on my front often, but when I do, it doesn’t feel too soft or unsupportive.

    Long-Term Benefits

One of the biggest positives is that I’m waking up without any stiffness or aches, which is a great sign that the mattress is doing its job. I also still appreciate how well it isolates movement—if you share a bed, this is a game-changer, as I’m barely disturbed by any movement during the night.

Overall, after three months, the Simba mattress continues to be comfortable, supportive, and high quality. It’s held up well, and I’d say it’s a great long-term investment for a good night’s sleep.

    Removable & Washable Cover

One feature I particularly appreciate about the Simba mattress is its removable and washable cover. While many mattresses have covers that can’t be taken off, Simba makes it easy to keep your mattress fresh and clean. The cover is designed to be zippered, allowing you to remove it without hassle.

I’ve found that this is a big plus, especially if you have young children or pets, or if you just like to keep things extra clean. It’s also great for anyone with allergies, as the cover can be washed regularly to help eliminate dust mites and allergens.

The fabric feels soft to the touch, yet durable, and it’s easy to put back on after washing. This makes maintenance a lot easier and ensures the mattress stays in great condition long-term.

    Any Bad Points?

While I’m overall really pleased with the Simba mattress, there are a couple of things worth mentioning:

    Slightly Firm for Some

Although the medium-firm feel works perfectly for me, I know that it might be a little firm for those who prefer a softer mattress. If you’re used to sinking into a plush memory foam bed, Simba might take a little time to adjust to, as it offers more support with a bit of bounce.

    Initial Smell

When first unboxed, there was a slight “new mattress” smell, which is pretty typical with foam mattresses. While it faded after a couple of days, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to smells.

    Price

Simba mattresses are on the pricier side, especially when compared to some other brands out there. While I do think the quality justifies the price, it might not be in everyone’s budget, particularly if you’re looking for something more affordable.

These are fairly minor points in the grand scheme of things, but it’s important to be realistic and provide a well-rounded review. Ultimately, I think the Simba mattress is still a great option for many people!

Final Verdict – Am I Keeping It?

So, after three months of sleeping on the Simba mattress, the big question is: am I keeping it? For now, the answer is yes!

It’s not often that a mattress impresses me, especially when I already have a great one, but Simba has definitely earned its spot in my home. The balance of comfort and support is exactly what I need, and the durability and breathability have made it a keeper.

My partner, who tends to be more picky about mattresses, describes it as “sleeping on a marshmallow” in the best possible way. He loves how soft and cushioning it feels while still providing the necessary support.

Of course, everyone’s sleep preferences are different, so it might not be perfect for everyone, but for us, it’s been a great addition. I’m happy with the quality, and I’m excited to see how it holds up in the long run!
