AFL NEWS: Moore good news for Magpies as Darcy avoids serious knee injury

Collingwood star Darcy Moore has avoided a dreaded ACL tear, after being injured late in the Magpies’ thrilling win over Gold Coast.

Moore hyperextended his knee in a marking contest deep into the final term at Metricon Stadium, needing to be assisted from the field, and was on crutches after the game.

However, scans have cleared the All Australian defender of serious damage, though he is still expected to face a stint on the sidelines.

The 26-year old instead suffered a capsule strain and bone bruising, with his recovery time to be determined in coming days.

Moore took to Instagram to break the news.

The absence of the star backman is a blow to the Magpies, who are currently on a six-game winning streak that has them ideally placed for a shock finals berth in their first season under new coach Craig McRae.
