12 Inventive Ideas for Your Most Organized Laundry Room Yet

I wouldn’t count my laundry room as one of my favorite spaces. It’s small, cluttered, and—more often than not—a mess. In general, I tend to just close the door and pretend it’s not there until I have to do laundry, so I’m always surprised to see people who love their laundry rooms enough to not only leave the door open, but actually post photos of the space on social media.

I think the difference between those laundry rooms and my laundry room really comes down to organization. There’s no rhyme or reason to how I stash my laundry supplies or organize dirty clothes, which makes the space feel a bit chaotic. (Okay, very chaotic.) I started looking for ways that I could tidy up the space—keeping in mind that it’s tiny—and here are some of the best laundry room organization ideas that I found along the way.

1. Organize Those Cabinets

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who stores all sorts of miscellaneous cleaning supplies in the laundry room, though this IGer does a much better job organizing everything than I do. Her cabinet is lined with uniform baskets, each of which holds specific items—there’s a basket for plant care, air fresheners, lint rollers, and more. Simple, yet oh-so satisfying.

2. Individual Baskets for Each Person’s Laundry

My boyfriend and I are generally too lazy to separate our clothes before washing, so I love the idea of having separate baskets for clean laundry. It would make putting away clothes a whole lot easier. This system would be especially handy in large households where each person is responsible for folding their own laundry.

5. Employ a Wall-Mounted Drying Rack

No space in your laundry room for a pop-up drying rack? This wall-mounted option is ideal for small spaces, as it can be set to several angles and folds up when not in use, taking up minimal space. (I’m almost positive the one in the photo is from Pottery Barn, as I’ve considered buying it myself!)

6. Store Supplies in Pretty Containers

The boxes and jars that laundry supplies come in typically aren’t attractive, and if you can’t stash them away somewhere, you can make them look a little nicer with the help of a few pretty glass jars! 7. Hang Up Cleaning Tools

There’s so much to love about this laundry room, starting with the precious pink pops of color! I also love that they’ve put hooks and a broom holder inside the cupboard to keep the cleaning tools organized and off the floor.

8. Create Shelving for Laundry Baskets

9. Keep Essentials on a Rolling Cart

It’s no secret that we’re fans of Yamazaki Home’s minimalistic organization tools, and the TOSCA Rolling Laundry Station would be the perfect addition to any undersized laundry room. It has a removable basket in the bottom, a rack for drying shirts and other clothing, as well as a tabletop for folding.

10. Build a Platform for Your Appliances
